These orthodontic course cirriculum will enlighten doctors to the possibilities of integrating orthodontics into the dental practice and serve as an adjunct to aesthetic dentistry not previous embellished. Restorative Orthodontic Dentistry: Diagnosing And Treatment Strategies  

Every general dentist should be able to utilize orthodontics to enhance their restorative therapy. Neuromuscular Orthodontics is an essential tool for every practice. Our goal is to get you started utilizing this tool, beginning with the NM physiologic position.

This course includes lectures and interactive hands-on participation projects, where each participant will learn the diagnosis and neuromuscular functional orthodontic treatment of various malocclusions. Additionally clinical didactic skills will be developed in order to be able to provide treatment including phase II stabilization treatment.

Goal of Session #1: To discover the possibilities of orthodontic stabilization using neuromuscular principles of occlusion and by defining these principles through the application of bio-electrical modalities and orthodontic diagnosis.

The objectives of this course are for the participant to:

• Utilize treatment philosophies and modality options to complete stabilization of occlusion through Neuromuscular orthodontics
• Define and use orthodontic techniques and procedures compatible with Neuromuscular Dentistry and Neuromuscular Functional Orthodontics
• Understand the correct diagnostic and treatment protocols for treatment
• Utilize diagnostic screening protocols as they relate to Radiology, Physical Examination, Bio-electrical instrumentation, Scans and data interpretation and TENS
• Understand how to design, select and use the orthodontic appliances required for specific neuromuscular occlusal treatment
• Realize the importance of proper TMJ joint physiology in neuromuscular stabilization and the appliances necessary to achieve that end
• Describe the importance of a proper airway evaluation and discover the total body response to occlusal stabilization
• Understand what occlusion is possible with modern orthodontic appliances
• Investigate the treatment options of orthodontics and see the role they play in developing facial beauty

Orthodontic Mechanics And Occlusal Stability: Treatment Protocols 

This three-day advanced course is for participants with previous orthodontic experience to further their understanding and clinical skills of diagnosis, treatment planning and effective management of the neuromuscular orthodontic/orthopedic case. Distinguishing the simple tooth movement case from the moderate arch development case will be emphasized.

This course is designed to mentor and assist the participants by encouraging them to begin orthodontic/orthopedic treatment with their patients, progressively guiding them toward a finishing stage of treatment and implementing neuromuscular concepts. Practice management and marketing concepts will be discussed as it relates to orthodontic treatment.

The second session student must gain a comprehensive understanding of CMS, EMG and ESG physiologic data. With this information, there will be a deeper understanding and appreciation to support nature’s bio-physiologic laws of orthopedic verticalization mechanics and occlusion. These principles are the foundation to diagnosing and treatment planning more complex cases.

An exchange of concepts, ideas and input will be given to assist each participant during the arch development and verticalization stages while treating to the myocentric finishing position.

Goal of session # 2: The primary goal of this session is to develop the necessary didactic skills of the participants that are essential for implementation of the orthodontic mechanics required for neuromuscular occlusal stabilization.

The objectives of this course are for the participant to:

• Define neuromuscular position through diagnostic modalities
• Learn orthodontic treatment protocols through NFO orthodontic mechanics and procedures
• Learn about various orthodontic appliances and how they are employed to accomplish stabilization
• Discover the many uses and applications of arch wires and AW systems
• Learn diagnostic screening protocols as they relate to Radiology, Physical Examination, Bio-electrical instrumentation, Scans and data interpretation and TENS
• Learn to place and adjust appliances used for specific neuromuscular occlusal treatment through didactic laboratory projects
• Discover the importance of proper case selection and when to start orthodontic stabilization and the appliances necessary to achieve that end
• Discover the etiologies of pediatric orthodontic malocclusions including the implications of upper airway obstruction and posture
• Review the techniques for the proper EMG guided bite registration for orthodontic patients and the limitations
• Learn case presentation techniques and office management skills

Finishing Mechanics And Occlusal Stability

This three-day course brings everything together. The focus is on key components in finishing treatment. These components include such areas as combination treatment, appliances, closing options, and aesthetics. The first step in bringing it all together is an understanding of the history. The history is further supported with a review of several case studies spanning many years.

In session three, we will cover why cases fail and how to avoid common mistakes. Participants will have the tools to present orthodontic cases to patients in an easy-to-understand manor. There is additional coverage on treatment mechanics and treatment sequences specifically as it relates to more complex cases. Participants will also learn several age related treatment options. Finishing to the correct functional treatment is emphasized.

Goal of session # 3: The primary goal of this session is to specifically define final positioning of the maxillo-mandibular relationship from a neuromuscular perspective and to demonstrate the interrelations of treatment concepts and methodology as it relates to the overall scheme of modern aesthetics.

The objectives of this course are for the participant to:

• Define The 9-Keys for occlusal stability
• Discover treatment that does not relapse and learn to avoid the causes of occlusal instability and how to steer clear of re-treatment
• Understand how to provide intermediate anterior aesthetics in pediatric orthodontic patients
• Identify and utilize sequential orthodontic treatment protocols
• Discover how to treat more advanced Class II and Class III malocclusions and discover the differences age plays in treatment
• Learn to define specific orthodontic tooth positions as they relate to dental and profile aesthetics
• Understand the magnitude of neuromuscular functional orthodontic occlusal retention and the significance of functional over-treatment
• Discover finishing screening protocols (scan interpretations) as they relate to neuromuscular stability and individual tooth placement
• Define segmental or single arch mechanics for molar and bicuspid up righting and arch preparation for rehabilitation/reconstruction.
• See orthodontic treatment necessary to prepare for anterior aesthetics
• Learn about invisible options to avoid or limit the use of braces
